This policy explains what information Gramercy Gold collects when you visit gramercygold.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect very little, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read.
Information we collect
When you contact us. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter. The form sends your message to our email inbox. We don’t store form submissions on the website itself.
When you visit the site. Like almost every website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record basic technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the time. These logs are used to run the site and keep it secure. The site itself also logs requests for missing pages and redirected links, recording the address requested, the referring page and the browser type, but not your IP address, so we can fix broken links.
Site analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. When you visit, it collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the website that sent you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location, such as your city or region. To do this, your browser connects to Google’s servers, and Google Analytics sets the cookies described below. The analytics tag on our site has Google’s advertising features switched off, and we use the reports it produces, which show totals and trends. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.
Web fonts. Our pages use fonts served by Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that information.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which let it recognize repeat visits. They last up to two years unless you delete them. We don’t use advertising cookies. WordPress, the software that runs this site, sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. To stop Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits to any website, you can install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
We use contact form messages only to read and reply to them and to fix any problems you report. We use server logs only to operate and protect the site. We use analytics reports to see which guides readers find useful, decide what to write next and spot problems with the site.
Sharing
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. Information is handled by the service providers that run the site for us: our web host, which stores the site and its logs, our email provider, which delivers and stores contact form messages, and Google, which provides our analytics. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a record of corrections. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period under its own policies. Google keeps analytics data for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete a message you’ve sent, or ask what information we hold about you, through our contact page. If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you have rights to know about, delete and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we start using advertising or affiliate links, we’ll update this policy before we do, and change the date at the top of the page.
